Briargreen Movie Night in the Park

Friday, August 23, 2019 starting at 7:45PM
Main Feature: The Princess Bride

(Please note the updated time - it was discovered that 7:30 was too early to be able to see the projector in the setting sun light.)

Thank you to all residents who participated in our survey! The majority of people wanted the Movie Night on Friday, so we opted to move it from the previously announced date of August 22nd. The Princess Bride won out by a slim margin against Moana. The long range forecast looks good for the 23rd, so fingers crossed we get clear skies.

We will be showing Ben & Holly's Magic Kingdom and Peppa Pig cartoons for the first half hour before the show. Kernel's popcorn will be provided for FREE again this year, but we are asking everyone to bring their own drinks so that we don't have the plastic bottle waste we had last year. Don't forget to bring blankets and chairs as well.

 See you all next Friday!

Colleen Hughes-Hunter retirement picnic

Dear neighbors

My name is Christie Hughes I'm the daughter of Colleen. My mom has lived in the community for 26 years. She is one of the longest running home daycares in the community and has helped raise many of the children in the neighborhood. She is loved by all and will be greatly missed as she closes her daycare doors to a well-deserved retirement at the end of June.

I would like to honor her by throwing a picnic in the park on Saturday July 13th, 2-4pm. Look for us on the Parkfield side, we will have refreshments and cake. Please help get this message out to her friends and neighbors who may want to stop by to pay tribute to this wonderful lady! Be sure to bring a lawn chair to sit and socialize. If anyone has any questions and wants to contact me, my email is qbhughes@hotmail.com or call (613) 697-6383.

BCA, on behalf of Christie Hughes
ps: There will be a rain date on Sunday July 14th, 2-4pm.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream comes to Briargreen!

Bear & Company brings a A Midsummer Night’s Dream to Briargreen Park.
  • Date: Sunday July 7th.
  • Time: 7PM
  • Suggested donation: $20 per person.
Special request; we would love to include some audience members, or neighbourhood kids, in the scenes to participate as faeries. We ask any kids to arrive 30 minutes before the 7PM start so that we can build in their part.

Bring the whole family, a picnic, something to sit on, bug spray -- and rain gear (The show will go on, unless conditions turn unsafe.)

A love-struck Duke and his Amazon queen, warring monarchs of the Fairy kingdom, mismatched rival lovers, and a hapless troupe of improbable players all get knitted up into a tangled knot of desire and hilarity. How will the course of true love ever run smooth? Leave it to Puck to unravel the Dream!

If you can't make the Briargreen performance, then check out the schedule at  http://www.bearandcompany.ca/ to catch Bear & Co. at other locations across the city.

19th Nepean Cubs & Scouts

Door-to-Door Bottle Drive
Wednesday evening, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Briargreen's 19th Nepean Cubs and Scouts will be doing their spring door-to-door bottle drive over the two upcoming dates:
  • Wednesday 10th April - the west side of the neighborhood (between Greenbank and Crofton) will be canvassed
  • Wednesday 17th April - the east side of the neighborhood (between Crofton and Centrepointe) will be canvassed
Donations either of cash or of empty refundable bottles and cans are accepted.  This is a fundraiser for 19th Nepean, and the revenue from refunds are fully and directly used for essential program expenses (like meeting and storage facilities, equipment purchase and repair, activity materials, training and education, subsidizing field trip and outing fees, and so on).
If you wish to make a donation but will not be home when Scouts canvass your section of the neighborhood, you may leave your donation on your porch for pickup.  If you want to be rid of your empties before then, call Scouter Charles at (613) 596-0382 to arrange an earlier pickup, or drop them on the porch at 31 Cedar Grove Ct.

Thanks again for your generous support!
